Resonant, Samavritti, and Lahari Pranayama

Trauma-Informed Yoga for the Journey with Cancer

The diagnosis of cancer is a traumatic event in a person’s life. Trauma-Informed care is essential for this journey. Yoga therapy offers tools for individuals to remain centered so they can navigate surgeries, treatments, and recovery. While medication and treatments are focused on the removal of cancer from the body, yoga therapy offers tools to nourish the mind, body, and overall energy.

Inspired by the work of Allison Jeffries and Lorenzo Cohen at the Anderson Cancer Center, I have developed a framework based on Patanjali’s eight-limb path to be a trauma-informed tether for anyone traveling through the journey with cancer.
